Garden rooms built
without compromise.

Using our highly skilled team with no compromise on quality or time we deliver beautifully designed and crafted Studios.

We build our spaces from the ground up using traditional framing methods or SIPS (structural insulated panels). There is no prefabrication; you watch the studio evolve and mould into its environment.

Ground screw foundation systems, as preferred, structural timber framing, high-quality insulation, roofing and electrical systems installed, you are ready for cladding.

You have many cladding options, including our ” go-to” cladding solution, Thermowood, an Eco-friendly and sustainable option.

Should you wish to consider an SIP solution, we can offer a range of predesigned solutions.

FROM THE GROUND UP

What we use, how we build your dream Garden House, and the options you have to make the ‘Art of the Possible’ work for you.

SIPs

Structural Insulated Panels or SIPs are at the heart of The Garden House Company’s strong eco-friendly values, focusing on sustainability with environmental ethics at heart. With 40% of your heating bills coming from gaps in insulation, this escaping heat is not only burning a hole in your pocket, but also the ‘O Zone’.

That is why we use SIPs, the modern designer’s choice of construction, due to the dense and rigid urethane insulation at the centre of every panel. In a SIPs build, just under 100% of the internal structure is insulated, with an R value 14x higher in a 100mm SIP than a 150mm x 50mm timber framed wall. Therefore, less heat is wasted in a SIPs design than a traditional timber structure, making SIPs the better choice for protecting you from both wasting money and contributing to climate change.

Groundscrews

Environmental ethics are ingrained into our brand, as well as drilled into the foundation of our buildings, that is because we use ground screws to minimise our concrete usage. Concrete is the second most-consumed substance on Earth.

To put it in perspective, 10% of all global carbon emissions are due to cement production, with 1.25 tonnes of embedded carbon per tonne of cement. In comparison, our ground screw foundation system uses (on average) 20 ground screws weighing 8.9kg which produces only 320.4kg of carbon emissions.

We work against convention, valuing knowledge, creativity, and sustainability. Our garden rooms reflect nature, and we must first try to preserve it by designing quality buildings using sustainable and energy-efficient materials.

EDPM roofing

EPDM is a rubber-polymer-based roofing membrane, fast and easy to install using cold-applied methods and water-based adhesives.

EPDM rubber roofing systems offer flexibility and high performance with a life expectancy like no other membrane.

Insulated concrete slabs

An insulated slab also provides thermal mass to store heat and moderates indoor temperatures. Slab insulation provides a thermal break to the perimeter of slab-on-grade foundations. We only use concrete foundations in cases where the groundscrew system cannot be used.

Thermowood Cladding

Thermowood, also known as heat treated timber, is a beautiful, sustainable timber material produced using chemical-free heat treatment. Thermowood is created by heat-treating Scandinavian softwood to temperatures ranging from 180 – 230° in special chamber kilns for up to 96 hours. Steam is used as a protective gas and helps to prevent the wood from splitting and becoming damaged during treatment. This process causes chemical and structural changes to occur within the timber, which, therefore, alters some of its characteristics and qualities. Some of the characteristics and qualities that make Thermowood such a popular specie includes:

  • Dimensionally stable
  • Environmentally sustainable
  • Resistance to rot and increased longevity
  • Improved insulation
  • Can be recycled
