Garden Room with Skylight
The design brief
For this bespoke garden room in Surrey, the priority was subtlety. The client wanted generous daylight — but without altering the clean, horizontal roofline of the building and remaining mindful of boundary height constraints. The solution: integrated flat glass skylights.
What we installed
Rather than adding a roof lantern, we designed the roof structure to incorporate two flush, flat glass skylights positioned to maximise daylight penetration while preserving architectural restraint. This offered a cleaner external roofline, less visual prominence from neighbouring properties, and a modern, minimalist aesthetic, all whilst remaining under required boundary height per Permitted Development rules.
